changes in our environment and their impact on health

changes in our environment and their impact on health

06.02.2025

Our environment has changed dramatically in recent decades.

We are not only experiencing the loss of intact ecosystems and a decline in many animal and plant species, but also a significant increase in chronic diseases. At the same time, however, awareness of a healthier lifestyle is growing, as can be seen from trends such as organic food and sustainable behavioral concepts. But why are chronic diseases increasing so dramatically and how can we counteract them?

The increase in chronic diseases

Chronic diseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis (MS), Crohn's disease, asthma and autoimmune diseases are much more common today than they were just a few decades ago. For example, the number of MS diagnoses in Germany has increased significantly in just a few years. Autoimmune diseases now also affect millions of people and can attack almost any organ system, from the skin and joints to the nervous system. Causes include environmental toxins, stress and an unhealthy diet.

Environmental pollution

In addition to stress and poor eating habits, environmental factors also play a role. Electromagnetic fields, for example from mobile phone networks or WLAN, are becoming increasingly intense. Studies show that they can trigger oxidative stress, which in turn promotes chronic diseases. Stress in the oral cavity, for example from inflamed teeth or heavy metals from amalgam fillings, can also put a strain on the entire body.

A rethink is urgently needed

Fortunately, awareness of the links between the environment, nutrition and health is growing. More and more people are choosing organic food, avoiding harmful substances and paying attention to a conscious lifestyle. Sustainable technologies, such as electric cars or pollutant-free textiles, are also helping to reduce the impact of negative environmental factors.

What you can do

There are many ways to actively promote your health and counteract negative influences:

  • Make sure you eat a balanced and organic diet.
  • Reduce stress through relaxation techniques or regular exercise.
  • Minimize the influence of electromagnetic fields, e.g. by switching off WLAN devices at night.
  • Have possible stress in the oral cavity, such as inflamed tooth cavities or old amalgam fillings, checked by a specialist dental practice.

Conclusion

The modern lifestyle brings with it many challenges for our health. However, by consciously dealing with environmental factors, stress and nutrition, we can do a lot to improve our quality of life. Our practice will be happy to support you in promoting the health of your teeth and your entire body. Talk to us - we will advise you individually!
